Age of Exploration November 2016Cyprus Classical Academy's Age of Exploration adventure began with making a telescope for a long journey. Students then asked King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella for permission and funding for their long journey. They made ships, ate limes to prevent scurvy, looked for constellations, tried to escape pirates and solved a puzzle in order to finally shoot a cannon and discover treasure!

Dancing Through the Decades Feb. 2014As a part of our study of modern times, our students learned various dances from the 1800's to 1960s! Crescendo Musicians (ages 5-10) were the band/orchestra for this event. All of our students learned how to do the Waltz, the Polka, the Charleston, the Bunny Hop, the Twist, the Hokey Pokey and the Limbo. It was a blast! And then, while the Crescendo musicians danced, our incredibly talented instructors took over and improvised through all of the dances. It was truly amazing and super fun!

Westward Expansion Nov. 2013In Year 6 of our History cycle, students learn about Modern times i.e. 1800 - present. We start our year learning about the Westward expansion of the United States, pioneer life and the Gold Rush. Our event had students panning for gold, singing and enjoying hot chocolate by the campfire, hanging out in a life-sized covered wagon, playing pioneer games and learning about Native Americans and Buffalo. Families were able to spend their 1862 money at the Trading Post.
