Cyprus History Events

Age of Exploration November 2016

Cyprus Classical Academy's Age of Exploration adventure began with making a telescope for a long journey.  Students then asked King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella for permission and funding for their long journey.  They made ships, ate limes to prevent scurvy, looked for constellations, tried to escape pirates and solved a puzzle in order to finally shoot a cannon and discover treasure!

Medieval Event and Cyprus' 1st Graduation
May 2016

Cyprus Classical Academy invited all families to attend a Medieval Banquet and enjoy numerous activities at the Medieval event.  A highlight of the event was that Cyprus held its first graduation ceremony.  All of our graduating students were officially named lord or lady of Cyprus.

Dancing Through the Decades Feb. 2014

As a part of our study of modern times, our students learned various dances from the 1800's to 1960s!  Crescendo Musicians (ages 5-10) were the band/orchestra for this event.  All of our students learned how to do the Waltz, the Polka, the Charleston, the Bunny Hop, the Twist, the Hokey Pokey and the Limbo.  It was a blast!  And then, while the Crescendo musicians danced, our incredibly talented instructors took over and improvised through all of the dances.  It was truly amazing and super fun!

Westward Expansion Nov. 2013

In Year 6 of our History cycle, students learn about Modern times i.e.  1800 - present.  We start our year learning about the Westward expansion of the United States, pioneer life and the Gold Rush.  Our event had students panning for gold, singing and enjoying hot chocolate by the campfire, hanging out in a life-sized covered wagon, playing pioneer games and learning about Native Americans and Buffalo.   Families were able to spend their 1862 money at the Trading Post.

Renaissance

Cyprus students are amazing, and we like to make sure their talents do not go to waste!  Here they are at ages 5 & 6 performing some famous excerpts from Shakespeare:

Chinese New Year

In Year 5 of our history cycle, students learn all about the Eastern Hemisphere.  Here is our Cultural Event celebrating Chinese New Year.  Our musicians play, students participated in the Dragon Dance, we had Chinese lanterns floating in the sky, Chinese food and song for all to enjoy!
