Admission Requirements

Admission Requirements

Super K Program
To enroll in Cyprus Classical Academy's Super K, students must be 4 or 5 years old on September 1st of the current school year.
  • Super K students have a customized, ability-based schedule.  Because of their young age, we offer extra accommodations and care with a home-base classroom.  Students who are 4 and 5 on September 1 are members of the Super K community.

Minimum Academic Requirements for Super K
Although many of our students will exceed the following requirements, our minimum requirements for the Super K program are as follows:
  • Students in this program must know all letter sounds and be able to decode three letter phonetic words*
  • Students must be able to count accurately to 20 and recognize numbers from 1 - 10*
Note:  This program is designed to accommodate students' academic needs at any level of achievement with the above minimum requirements.
*If you feel your child is ready for a full-day kindergarten program and is motivated to learn, but does not meet the academic requirements, please contact us for further assessment.

Admission Requirements for Grades 1-5:
Cyprus conducts a holistic evaluation of each child.  Admissions decisions are based on the information provided by parents, Applications, IQ and/or Achievement test results, and a student visit day. Cyprus is designed for students who can learn at a faster pace or have achieved beyond the limits of a typical school situation. If  your child fits into this category, Cyprus is most likely a good educational fit.
  • IQ testing:  Although most of our students have scored over the 98th percentile on IQ tests, we are able to accommodate motivated learners who test over the 90th percentile.  Because of our ability-based classes, our school is able to accommodate, teach, and challenge all students who can not be academically served by a typical public or private or gifted school curriculum due to the slow pace or challenge level.  Students who achieve do better at Cyprus than at typical schools, and Cyprus is designed to challenge students who score well over the 99.9th percentile.
  • Anecdotal information and recommendations from parents, previous teachers and/or other adults who work closely with the student.
  • Student visit day: We ask that each child visit our school for the day.  While we are social-distancing due to COVID-19, we are holding our class visits virtually.
  • Cyprus assessment: We conduct an in-house assessment of your child's academic achievement and potential pacing during assessment week or on their visit day.
  • Achievement Testing:  Cyprus may administer a nationally standardized achievement test to assist in determining a student's level of achievement.

Bridge Program (Grades 6-8)
The Bridge Program is designed for accelerated learners who are working several grade levels beyond their age.  They must meet the following minimum academic requirements to enroll:
  • Students must be able to test into at least Algebra 1
  • Students must have experience writing and have a good understanding of the structure of a 5-paragraph essay with in-text citations.
  • A foundation in English grammar including knowledge of the parts of speech.
  • Students must demonstrate a desire to learn and ready to be part of a school that will provide challenge.
